Accommodation in Southern Namibia

What makes Alte Kalköfen so unique?

Located in Southern Namibia, Alte Kalköfen Lodge (“Old Lime Kiln” Lodge) provides a warm, personal welcome and a peaceful retreat between Keetmanshoop and Lüderitz. The lodge is built around historic lime kilns. It is home to Namibia’s most extensive registered Lithops collection (Cole Lithoparium), making it a destination for both avid botanists and interested travellers. Its location makes it a convenient stopover for those exploring the Fish River Canyon, Quiver Tree Forest, and Kolmanskop. After a day of adventure, you can relax on your private terrace, observe oryx and springbok at the floodlit waterhole, or enjoy a home-cooked meal in the lodge’s restaurant.

An absolutely amazing place, incredibly tranquil and the bungalows have all the small things that really make a place feel like a home from home. Dinner & breakfast are both fantastic & would 100% recommend a sundowner safari drive! Watching the sunset over the hills is a must.

Lithops

The Cole Lithoparium has a vast collection of lithops and other succulent plants. Lithops, also known as “living stones,” are small, adaptable and well-camouflaged succulents native to southern Africa that resemble pebbles, allowing them to blend into their rocky surroundings.

The Lithops collection is an absolute highlight.
